Desciption: Favorita is an ancient grape in Piedmont, with some accounts reaching back into the late 1600s,with genetic links to Pigato and Vermentino. Unlike the seemingly more compatible climate in the south for Pigato, in Piedmont, in the Roero region more specifically, Favorita fights in the tougher climate to produce delicate and fine boned whites. Dave Fletcher was once the solo Nebbiolo guy, but his foray into other grapes has been amazing. This Favorita is beyond elegant, it’s lithe and silky and has a weight that belies its 12.5% label on the bottle. Serving this too cold will shut this down, so leave it out of the ice. It’s really stoney and vinous, but oh so light. I can’t think of a better match for Sashimi or beef tartare.
