Avani – ‘Issan Vineyard’ Pinot Noir 2021

Description:  Pretty bright red fruits with intensity and spice. Light and lifted on the nose with an unexpected weight of fruit, earth and tannin structure.  Wild yeast, all destemmed fruit fermented on skins for 21 days. Aged for 18 months in barrel (no new). Unfined and unfiltered. Issan Vineyard is located in Outtrim, South Gippsland (near Leongatha). Shashi began her winemaking journey at Bass Phillip Wines in 2004. During this time Shashi assisted in the processing of the Issan Vineyard fruit and became familiar with the vineyard and the special character of the site always stayed with her. The vineyard was first planted in 1994 by Phillip Jones (founder, Bass Phillip Wines) with the four-hectare vineyard consisting of a high-density planting of 9,000 vines per hectare of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
