Boatrocker Brewers & Distillers – Jaune 2020 Savagnin Marc Wild Ale

Description

Characteristics: Funk, Juice, Mango

Description: A collaborative effort between two Matt’s – Boatrocker’s helmsman Matt Houghton and Crittenden Winery’s winemaker Matt Campbell. As the largest growers of the grape variety Savagnin (not to be confused with Sauvignon) in Australia, and being just down the road from the brewery, Boatrocker leapt at the chance to make a wild ale using Crittenden Estate Savagnin marc. 300kg of grapes were paied with a barrel of Wild Ale that had aged for 18 months and left to referment for 3 months. The result is something quite magical, and shows that beer and wine play very nicely together. A true meeting point of wild ale and wine to create flavours of funk, grapeskins and juice, tropical mangoes and bright acidity.

Drink size: 500ml

ALC/VOL: 9.4%
